Sony Music Entertainment Germany, Switzerland and Austria will relocate its regional headquarters from Munich to Berlin in the next year, it was announced today by Patrick Mushatsi-Kareba, CEO, Sony Music GSA. "We are going to one of the most progressive and creative cities in the world," he said.

The company said it has entered into a long-term lease agreement for approximately 90,000 square feet of space at Bülowstraße 80, Berlin-Schöneberg. Sony Music’s existing Berlin operations, including offices located in Schlegelstraße and Rosenthaler Straße, as well as the headquarters of Sony Music Continental Europe & Africa, will be combined in the new seven floor building, located in the up-and-coming area of Potsdamer Straße in what was formerly known as West Berlin.

Mushatsi-Kareba explained, "Berlin is the epicenter of culture and creativity in Germany. We are thrilled to be moving to a modern building in one of the city’s most vibrant and desirable areas. Our new headquarters will give us a home with increased proximity to our artists and partners, as well as expanded access to influential creative subcultures, and leading creative, cultural and digital innovators."

Added Daniel Lieberberg, president, Sony Music Continental Europe & Africa: "We are delighted that Berlin will serve as the new unified home of both our GSA and Continental Europe operations. Berlin is not only Germany’s capital, but also the capital of a continental creative community. Our expansion here will allow us to further enhance our leadership and innovation in the industry as we work alongside other leaders in entertainment and technology."

Sony Music GSA will continue to maintain operations at its location in Munich following the shift in headquarters to Berlin.
