Legendary NYC rock and dance venue Webster Hall has announced its first slate of shows since closing for renovations in August 2017. BSE Global and The Bowery Presents, AEG Presents’ regional partner, will officially re-open the venue in late April with an event to be announced, but on May 1 will welcome Patti Smith and Her Band.

The rest of the month will feature Sharon Van Etten on May 4, Royal Trux on May 15, Broken Social Scene on May 16 and 17, Old Dominion on May 19, Chromeo on May 20, MGMT on May 22-24 and The Japanese House on May 28, among others.

In June and beyond, the venue will host Empire of the Sun, Real Estate, City of the Sun, Pinegrove and Built to Spill.

Talent buying and booking responsibilities for the reopened Webster Hall are being handled by Bowery Presents, in which AEG Presents purchased a stake in January 2017, along with BSE. Bowery previously had an exclusive deal with the venue that ended in March 2014 and will once again be in charge of programming and marketing the hall alongside BSE.

"As we honor the rich history this venue holds with fans and artists alike, we are excited to begin this new chapter with artists that we love and respect," said John Moore and Jim Glancy, partners at The Bowery Presents.

When fans return to 125 East 11th Street, they'll be met by a revamped entry way that includes three additional doors, plus a new first-floor lounge that replaces the venue-within-a-venue Marlin Room. Other tuneups include the venue's first-ever elevator, along with central air conditioning, new stairwells and expanded bathrooms, however, much of the venue's interior has been left in place, including the Grand Ballroom's original stage.

"Our collective goal was to ensure the history and legacy of this iconic theater while preserving its charm and character and creating an unequaled New York City concert experience for fans and performers," said Jay Marciano, CEO of AEG Presents.

Built in 1886, the Lower East Side building was purchased by RCA Records and operated as a recording studio and ballroom in the 1950s and '60s and then became a full-time concert venue, The Ritz, beginning in 1980. The Ballinger family took control of the venue in 1989, selling it to AEG/Bowery Presents and BSE Global (formerly Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment) in February 2017.

"It has been an honor to undertake this project with AEG and The Bowery Presents, understanding how much Webster Hall means to the history of New York City and the music community," said Brett Yormark, CEO of BSE Global. "Maintaining the integrity of this iconic venue has been of utmost priority throughout the entire renovation process, while ensuring that the enhancements modernize the venue for both the fans and the performers. It has been our intention to create a venue pipeline to our larger arenas and we are looking forward to the opportunities that Webster Hall will provide us."
