iHeartMedia Redesigns Family App, Partners With Honda, Samsung, Android and Roku
iHeartMedia announced the redesign of their iHeartRadio Family app among other innovations on Tuesday (Jan. 8) during the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The iHeartRadio Family app has improved navigation as the scrolling mechanism is now top to bottom instead of left to right. There are also three tabs to aid in browsing. In addition, the parental control settings have been expanded to include "Hide this Station" and "Hide this Story." Furthermore, there are now over 80 pieces of family friendly concent available in the app for live radio, playlist radio and podcasts.
“2018 was a momentous year for iHeartMedia, filled with acquisitions, partnerships, integrations and the development of an unprecedented podcasting platform,” said Darren Davis, president of iHeartRadio and iHeartMedia Networks Group. “Thanks to our ever-expanding list of platforms, iHeartRadio can be enjoyed nearly everywhere -- from cars to wearables to gaming consoles and more. We’re excited to announce even more integrations this week as we look forward to another successful year of providing listeners everywhere with an exceptional music and audio listening experience.”
The company has partnered with Honda for the Honda Dream Drive allowing drivers to use iHeartRadio content by integrating live broadcast radio simultaneously with digitally streamed audio.
They have also partnered with Android Auto to include music playlists, podcasts, live radio stations, and custom artist stations in the car. Android TV devices now work with voice commands allowing listers to enjoy iHeartRadio's podcasts, playlists and radio stations.
iHeartMedia continues its Samsung partnership by integrating voice-enabling with Samsung's intelligence platform, Bixby. U.S. users can now call specific live and iHeartRadio original radio stations with the ability to play music playlists and podcasts coming soon. Voice commands will also work with Roku streaming players and televisions with Roku TV wireless speakers.
