Live Nation Announces Plans to Acquire Swiss Promoter Mainland Music

Live Nation Entertainment is acquiring Mainland Music, a leading concert promoter in Switzerland that promotes over 650 shows annually.

Co-founded in 2012 by longtime partners Christian Gremelmayr, Derrick Thomson, Marc Lambelet, Martin Schrader and Santosh Aerthott, Mainlland has offices in Zurich and Lausanne and will help Live Nation grow its presence in Switzerland while assisting the publicly traded concert giant with tours and other promotion opportunities.

Mainland Music has brought acts like Sam Smith, Macklemore, Queens Of The Stone Age, Die Antwoord, Dropkick Murphys and dozens more to the country

"This new partnership will add the independent spirit of Mainland Music to Live Nation’s full range of services in Switzerland, enhancing the live music experience for artists and fans throughout the country," a release announcing the deal reads.

Matt Schwarz, chief operating officer of Live Nation GSA, a touring division based in Germany said the partners behind Mainland music have "strong relationships and impressive industry insights," adding the deal will strengthen Live Nation’s presence in the Swiss market and ensure the continuation of our success story." 

Gremelmayr said the acquisition means "we will bring even more international top acts to Switzerland." Thomson added, "as a very successful boutique-style promoter, we will add our spirit to Live Nation's reach."

The transaction is expected to be completed in early January 2019.
