Executive Turntable: Moves at Columbia Records, Pandora, BMG Nashville & More

Columbia Records announced on Monday (Oct. 22) that Manos Xanthogeorgis has been named SVP of digital marketing and media. He will report to Jenifer Mallory, GM at Columbia Records.

In his new role, Xanthogeorgis will take care of the development and execution of Columbia’s overall digital strategy including consumer engagement, social media, influencer and streaming marketing, and advertising for the label’s artists.

“Manos has executed countless creative and impactful global digital campaigns for Sony Music signature artists around the world over the last few years,” stated Mallory. “His strategic insight and acute understanding of the global digital and streaming landscape will be a tremendous asset to Columbia’s artists and label partners.”

Xanthogeorgis added: “I am fortunate to be able to continue to work with Jenifer who is one of the brightest and most forward-thinking music executives and continue to learn from her. I look forward to further cultivating key partnerships around the world as we integrate our strategies regionally and globally.”

Xanthogeorgis was previously appointed to VP, head of international digital for Sony Music Entertainment in 2017 where he oversaw international digital and streaming functions for Columbia, Epic, and RCA labels.

He has created and helped with campaigns for Adele, Beyoncé, Camila Cabello, Harry Styles, Khalid, SZA and more.
 



Pandora announced Thursday (Oct. 25) that Brad Minor will become VP, head of brand marketing and communications. He will split his time between Pandora’s headquarters in Oakland and its New York City offices.

In the role, Minor will be primarily responsible for defining Pandora's brand positioning to listeners and the industry together with the brand marketing, communications, experiential and social media teams that report to him.

“Over the past decade, working with some of the most successful and well-known brands in the world, Brad has proven his ability to meaningfully engage multiple audiences through powerful storytelling that connects brand marketing, public relations, live events, and social media,” said Aimée Lapic, CMO of Pandora, in a statement. “By bringing all of these teams under Brad’s direction, we will ensure a clear and consistent voice across all of our brand touch points -- maintaining and extending Pandora’s leadership position in our industry.”

Most recently, he worked as managing director of brand, advertising and media at JP Morgan Chase & Co., where he and his team launched the Chase Sapphire Card travel campaigns starring James Corden.
 



BMG announced on Thursday (Oct. 25) that Jake Gear has been appointed to senior director of creative for BMG Nashville. He will report to Kos Weaver, BMG Nashville’s EVP.

In his new role, Gear will be in charge of working with the company’s current roster of songwriters, as well as signing and developing more talent.

Before moving to BMG, Gear has held posts at Magic Mustang Music and Sea Gayle Music. In those previous roles, he managed and worked with a series of Nashville based songwriters, pairing them with artists including Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Cole Swindell and more.
 



Position Music has appointed Moira McCarthy as senior director of creative, advertising and marketing. The announcement was made by Wendy Griffiths, EVP of synch and creative marketing.

In the role, McCarthy is responsible for overseeing creative across advertising and marketing. Prior to joining the company, she was director of marketing and business development at both Grupo Spiro and The Napoleon Group and was manager of music licensing at Audio Network. She also is on the board of directors of Women in Music, holding the title of events co-chair.

“I am excited to have Moira join us as senior director of creative and welcome her vast knowledge and experience in advertising, brand licensing and creative to help us further placement of our artists with brands,” said Griffiths.
