Caroline -- the independent distribution and label services arm of Capitol Music Group (CMG) -- announced Tuesday (Oct. 2) the promotion of Brandy Contreras to the newly created position of svp of strategic operations. Jacqueline Saturn, Caroline's president, made the announcement and will oversee Contreras in the latter's new position.

As svp of strategic operations, Contreras will be tasked with strengthening and bringing enhancements to Caroline's infrastructure, streamlining administrative and communication processes with its personnel, artist and label partners and CMG management. Additionally, she will work toward increasing efficiencies among its 50-person U.S. staff, and will work closely with Saturn and evp Matt Sawin on strategic planning and alliances with Caroline International's 11 global offices.

"There are no words to express my excitement about welcoming Brandy into the Caroline family," said Saturn. "I have never seen an employee so respected, valued and loved immediately by all of CMG. Her wealth of knowledge and great demeanor will be of incredible value to the entire Caroline team."

"I'm thrilled and honored to be joining the Caroline team as we build on its growing success and stellar reputation for super-serving its independent artist and label partners," added Contreras. "I want to continue building the strongest, most efficient organization possible and I'm excited to be bringing my expertise in media, tech and music to my new role. I was to thank Jacqueline Saturn for providing me with this amazing opportunity and entrusting me with such an important role, Michelle Jubelirer for her invaluable mentorship and Steve Barnett for being such a visionary and offering me such unwavering support."

Before filling the newly created position, Contreras most recently held the title of vp of human resources for both CMG and Universal Music Group (UMG), having held that position since February 2017.
