Warner Music Group has promoted veteran executive Alfonso Perez-Soto to executive vp of Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. In his new role, Perez-Soto will bring his recent experience in developing the emerging markets of Latin America to the trio of up-and-coming territories.

"There’s no one better-placed to spearhead our growth in these areas, which are crucial for the future of our company. In today’s streaming ecosystem these regions are going to become increasingly influential in breaking new artists globally," commented Stu Bergen, WMG's CEO, International.

This is Perez-Soto's second promotion in a year at WMG; in October 2017, he was elevated to the then-newly created position of senior vp, global business development and chief commercial officer, emerging markets. As the title suggests, he was tasked with finding markets ripe for growth. For the five years before that, he was senior vp of business development for Latin America, Spain and emerging markets, where he oversaw the company's expansion into those growing regions.

He joined Warner Music Latin in 2005 as new-media director. Earlier in his career, Perez-Soto held stints at Telefonica, Universal Music Group and Nokia.

"I’m delighted to take up this new role as we expand our presence in key emerging markets," Perez-Soto said. "These regions have fantastic local performers and provide a huge opportunity for our international artists. I can’t wait to get started working alongside our brilliant in-house teams and licensees across the globe."
