On Monday (July 30), Warner/Chappell Music CEO and Chairman Jon Platt announced that Pharrell Williams will be hosting the upcoming City of Hope event this coming fall, where Platt will be honored with the organization’s Spirit of Life award. Pharrell is no stranger to the event, as he was honored by the organization with the Legend in Songwriting award in 2016, presented to him by former Spirit of Life honoree Clive Davis.

"I’m honored to join my good friend Jon to support the groundbreaking and life-saving advances at City of Hope," said Pharrell. "I've had the pleasure of working with this amazing organization before, and I’m looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic event."

"I'm excited that my one of my closest friends and an iconic artist, Pharrell, has agreed to host the October gala,” added Platt. "As a committed philanthropist in his own right, I knew Pharrell would understand the importance of City of Hope’s mission and want to get involved. It’s going to be an amazing evening."

The Spirit of Life Award is City of Hope’s highest honor, presented each year to an individual believed to be a philanthropic leader whose work fundamentally impacted music, film or entertainment.

Currently, Platt sits on the boards of the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame, the Motown Museum and the Living Legends Foundation. He also actively supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where his wife sits on the board of directors. In the past, Platt has served as the vice chairman of the board of directors for the MusiCares Foundation. Since 2005, Platt has also annually been awarding three high school  students from his hometown with college scholarships through his Big Jon Platt Scholarship Program.

Platt will be presented with the prestigious award on October 11 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
