TiVo Corporation announced today that Google will use TiVo Music Metadata to provide metadata and images for select artists on Google's music platforms, which includes YouTube Red, YouTube Music and the Google Play Music store.

"In addition to the incredible range of our collection, TiVo Music Metadata has a unique ability to go beyond traditional tracking, linking musical library content with other relevant artist or album info, which provides a wider span of context for the listener," said Roz Ho, svp and general manager of Consumer and Metadata at TiVo.

Additionally, YouTube and Google can "programmatically use the TiVo music metadata," which covers 34 million tracks worldwide and is constantly updated, "to design a more dynamic user interface that provides a more visually immersive experience," according to a press release.

Ho said, "The dynamic features of our metadata made it the ideal fit for Google’s musical platforms, allowing them to create stronger entertainment experiences." The company boasts descriptive and dynamic metadata that spans genres and popularity, from "from popular hits and cult favorites to minor works and classical masterpieces."
