CD Baby's parent company, AVL Digital Group, has taken a major step in expanding beyond artist-driven services and into B2B services with the acquisition of AudioMicro and its AdRev and DashGo divisions. Bringing AudioMicro into the fold means CD Baby will now be able to offer YouTube's Content ID technology for YouTube videos and DashGo's API for better monetization of assets.
“Bringing these companies together with CD Baby will amplify our ability to serve more kinds of clients, from newly minted independent artists to established labels and publishers,” explains Tony van Veen, AVL Digital Group CEO. "The number of rights we now represent has multiplied substantially, and we have strengthened our arsenal of technology for rights holders with this acquisition."
The marriage of all the companies creates one of the world's biggest music asset administrators. CD Baby is already home to over 650,000 artists and distributes nearly 9 million tracks to all major digital services; the addition of DashGo adds another 250,000 recordings to the mix.
