Paris-based music streaming service Deezer has joined rivals like Spotify and Tidal in launching its very own desktop application. According to the company, subscribers to its ten-dollar Premium+ service who download the app before the new year will have the option to hear music in lossless CD quality, usually reserved for users of the more expensive Deezer HiFi tier.
"Deezer’s desktop users will now have a new home to play their Flow [smart playlist], discover unknown artists and watch exclusive video content -- all within a newly designed, one download app," said Alexander Holland, Deezer's chief content and product officer. "Furthermore, we are excited to offer hifi audio to users who want to further enhance the quality of their overall listening experience."
The new desktop app will also have added, localized content specific to France, Germany, UK, Brazil and throughout Latin America, the company said.
