Christine Calip Victor Joins UMG's Bravado as SVP
Christine Calip Victor is the new senior vice president of business development, business and legal affairs at Bravado, Universal Music Group's merch and brand management company. In her new role, Calip Victor will focus on external business development and fostering new relationships with brands and artists. As her title suggests, Calip Victor will also provide legal support across the company.
Calip Victor will be based in NYC and will report to Mat Vlasic, the CEO of Bravado. "Bravado is quickly evolving from a traditional merchandise shop to a world-leading brand management company," Vlasic said. "Christine is a seasoned executive whose work experience will allow us to continue to expand, innovate and create campaigns and programs to super serve our artists and their creative vision."
Prior to joining Bravado, Calip Victor was senior vp of business and legal affairs for UMG's east coast labels, primarily Republic Records, where she was integral in the singings and partnerships with Ariana Grande, Post Malone and James Bay, among other artists. Pre-UMG, the New York Law School grad was an associate at Sedlmayr & Associates.
"What Bravado has already accomplished under Mat’s leadership makes this a truly exciting time to join the company," Calip Victor said in a statement. "I'm thankful to Mat for this opportunity and I'm looking forward to working with him and the talented team at Bravado, while exploring new opportunities to grow our business."
Bravado oversees merchandise of all stripes -- from tea towels to key chains -- for its artists, and in the past year has partnered with Prince's estate and, earlier, with John Varvatos to launch a pop-up shop featuring Guns N' Roses.
