Rock Out Loud campaign features packaging with built-in cassette player replica that plays the full soundtrack.
Popular snack brand Doritos and Marvel Studios are going retro as they partner for the rollout of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack. The centerpiece of the pair’s Rock Out Loud campaign is a custom-designed, limited-edition series of Doritos bags featuring a built-in cassette tape deck-inspired player that plays the full soundtrack. The bags can also be recharged for repeat listening.
Among the ‘60s and ‘70s pop, R&B/funk, country and rock songs comprising Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are: Parliament’s “Flash Light,” Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord,” Silver’s “Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang” and Glen Campbell’s “Southern Nights.” Rounding out the soundtrack is the original song “Guardians Inferno” featuring The Sneepers and David Hasselhoff.
The custom bags will be available for consumer purchase on April 28 via Amazon.com/Doritos while supplies last. On May 5 — the release date for the second installment in the Guardians franchise — Doritos will also host Rock Out Loud pop-up recording booths in New York and Los Angeles. Fans will get the chance to sing one of the Marvel/Hollywood Records soundtrack’s classic tunes. In addition, they’ll have the opportunity to win various prizes, including the custom cassette player replica Doritos bags, concert and other event tickets and free bags of Doritos. The recording booths will be open at Greeley Square (near Sixth Avenue and Broadway) in New York City and at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland in Hollywood, Calif. from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can visit Doritos.com for more information.
