Spotify Bundles Up With Meditation App Headspace
Just a super-chill deal.
Spotify has announced a new joint subscription offer that will bundle its streaming music service with Headspace, an app that features meditation sessions and "mindfulness training." Launching today (Nov. 3) in four of the five Nordic countries (sorry Iceland!), with the U.K. and the Netherlands soon to follow, users of the services can pay one price to subscribe to both, using a single login.
The bundle brings the monthly price for subscription to each down from about €20 to €14.99, with Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark getting first crack at the offer. It's important to note that this isn't a merging of the apps, and there doesn't appear to be any cross-app content sharing going on. Just two apps and services with one discounted bill.
In the App Store, Headspace describes itself as "meditation made simple" with a catalog of short guided meditations that, it believes, "can help improve your focus, exercise mindful awareness, relieve anxiety and reduce stress." According to Spotify, Headspace has had 10 million users to date.
Earlier this week, the Sweden-based company announced it had acquired subscriber analytics startup Preact to help identify trends that could help grow its premium base.
