Chart-topping singer-songwriter Halsey and her team will be featured as the Artist Development Case Study at the 2016 Billboard Touring Conference this year.
The session will launch the conference on Wednesday, November 9 as an insightful panel discussion that will break down Halsey’s recent career moves, strategic planning, synergies and music with the team that helped move the surging artist’s career forward in 2016.
Halsey will join the panel discussion that will examine her career trajectory and reveal what is next, along with her co-manager Jason Aron, Founder & CEO, Aron Projects; co-manager Anthony Li; Alex Hardee, director/agent, Coda Agency; Matt Galle, senior agent, Paradigm; Matt Meyer, agent, AM Only; and Jeremy Vuernick, VP, A&R, Capitol Records/Astralwerks Records. The panel will be moderated by Billboard’s Executive Director of Content & Programming for Touring & Live Entertainment Ray Waddell.
Halsey – whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane – broke onto the scene in 2015, with the success of her debut album Badlands (certified Platinum and peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200). The New Jersey-born singer-songwriter went on to score a nomination for Favorite Breakout Artist at the 2016 People's Choice Awards, a feature on Justin Bieber’s new album Purpose and a spot on tour with The Weeknd. She sold out two headline tours, including a headline show at Madison Square Garden in minutes, and earned rave reviews for her conceptual electro anti-pop sound, propelling her to be named MTV’s Artist To Watch in 2015 and Spotify’s Emerge Artist that same year.
Halsey is currently featured on The Chainsmokers’s “Closer,” which has been No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart the past six weeks and is currently No. 1 on Top 40 Radio. A champion of progressive causes, Halsey has built a massive social media following.
“Watching Halsey’s career explode in 2016 has been exciting, and she is definitely one of the most intriguing artist development stories of the year,” says Waddell. "The combination of talent, work ethic, and pure on-stage charisma, combined with an expert team making smart strategic moves along the way, is a recipe for ongoing success. As she tees up the next phase of what is sure to be a lengthy career, I look forward to breaking it all down with Team Halsey on Nov. 9.”
