KROQ's Kevin Weatherly Renews Contract as CBS Radio's SVP Programming
Kevin Weatherly, the senior vice president of programing for CBS Radio and program director of Los Angeles’ influential KROQ-FM, has signed a multi-year contract extension with the broadcast media giant. Weatherly, who is also the PD at LA's KAMP-FM and KCBS-FM, has been with CBS and KROQ for nearly 25 years.
"Kevin's influence and impact on the content development of our company, and particularly our LA music stations, over the last 25 years is unmatched," said Chris Oliviero, executive vp, programming. "We couldn’t be happier that he’ll continue on his journey with CBS Radio as a key contributor to the ongoing evolution and growth of our programming platforms."
Specifics of Weatherly’s contract renewal were not disclosed. In his role as svp, Weatherly acts as format captain across the company's rock, alternative and adult hits stations, and contributes to brand strategy for on-air and digital. CBS owns 117 radio stations in 26 markets, and operates both Radio.com and CBS Local Digital Media apps.
Weatherly arrived at KROQ in 1992, just in time for alt-rock's grunge moment. During his tenure, he has signed a number of notable on-air personalities including Carson Daley and Booker, and he has organized numerous CBS-backed events and concerts.
"I'm grateful to CBS RADIO for their support throughout the years and for letting me continue to do what I love doing," said Weatherly. "I couldn't think of anywhere else I would rather be -- there is no better job. I am very fortunate to be able to work alongside some of the best talent in the industry."
