Keshet Studios Inks Digital Video Deal With Interscope: Exclusive
The first of several music-themed projects is coming-of-age series 'Tracks.'
Keshet Studios has teamed up with music label Interscope Geffen A&M to produce music-themed digital videos.
The multi-year, multi-series deal will see Keshet and IGA co-develop and produce the projects with an aim for distribution on digital platforms in the U.S. and worldwide. The first project is Tracks, a coming-of-age series that mixes drama with the real-world music scene as it follows five twenty-somethings as they find common ground in live music.
The deal comes a little more than a year after Keshet Studios launched as an L.A.-based subsidiary of Keshet International, which is known for FX's Tyrant as well as Prisoners of War, which was adapted into Showtime's Homeland.
"The development of original digital programming that resonates with the cord-cutting millennial audience is at the core of our strategy, and we see music and partnering with some of the hottest names in the record industry through Interscope Geffen A&M as a key drive to making that happen," said Sebastian Burkhardt, senior vp digital and acquisitions at Keshet International. "With our first joint project, Tracks, we are well on a path to success."
For IGA, the digital deal provides an opportunity for its roster of clients, which include Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez. "We're excited to partner with Keshet to produce innovative short- and long-form visual content to tell our artists' stories," said Jeremy Erlich, CFO and executive vp business development at IGA. "This is part of our broader strategy to create high-value content and provide new and exciting opportunities for our artists. Tracks is truly an exciting new project, which blends a scripted drama with live performances in an episodic show."
Keshet and Interscope will handle distribution in the U.S. with Keshet International leading global sales on Tracks and other projects in development.
