What a few days it's been for Pokémon GO. The mega-popular game took mere hours to become the top-grossing iOS app and has driven shares of Nintendo up a staggering 25 percent, adding $7.5 billion to the company's market value in mere days. The game is reportedly making Nintendo $1.6 million in daily revenue in the U.S. alone.
The mobile app, where users walk around their neighborhoods in search of virtual characters, was even used by St. Louis area thieves to lure unsuspecting victims to remote areas. Okay, that part is unfortunate, so here's another nice stat: The game's quick rise over the weekend has resulted in a major uptick in streaming of Poké-themed songs on Spotify.
