Universal Music's Barak Moffitt Promoted to EVP of Content Strategy, Operations

The newly created position will have Moffitt overseeing video opportunities and synergies.

Universal Music Group announced on Thursday that its head of strategic operations, Barak Moffitt, has been promoted to the newly created position of executive vp of content strategy and operations. The bump is immediate, with Moffitt reporting to CFO Boyd Muir and executive vp Michele Anthony.

Moffitt's expanded role will include working with the company's label groups and Commercial Services Division to create new commercial opportunities for audio-visual content across brands, direct-to-consumer experiences, live events, merchandise and licensing. He'll continue to oversee the strategic operations team, working with the labels and studios to get the max value out of the company's creative assets.

"When we develop, record, produce and market music, we also create valuable images, videos and other related content," Muir explained. "In his new role, Barak will coordinate and fully monetize these assets for our artists and labels across our company, as well as help create short and long-form videos, documentaries, behind-the-scenes features and many other exciting forms of audio-visual content for fans to enjoy around the world."

Before joining UMG in 2013, Moffitt held several executive positions at EMI, most recently executive vp of the global rights management program.
