Steve Waxman Named VP of Warner Music Canada

Music industry veteran Steve Waxman has been promoted to vice president of Warner Music Canada. Since 1992, the avid golfer (his Twitter handle is @fairwaystevie) has been director of national publicity at the label group.

"Warner has always been an exciting place to work," Waxman told Billboard when reached. "I have always felt fortunate to work at a company that lets me stick my nose in where it probably doesn’t belong and contribute crazy, half-baked ideas without being run out of the building."

In announcing the promotion, WMC president Steve Kane called Waxman a "risk taker" and a "passionate advocate" for artists at the label.

"From getting his foot in the door at Billy Idol’s management company in New York in 1982 to becoming the head of Publicity & Radio Promotion at Attic Records before joining Warner, Steve has been in the industry for more than 30 years," Kane said, according to FYI Music News. "His knowledge of music and our business has earned him the respect of our industry and media partners. He has never been shy about putting forth ideas and opinions, or challenging the way  'things are done', all with an eye to presenting our artists to the biggest possible audience."

The Warner Music Canada artist roster includes Tegan and Sara, Michael Bublé, Blue Rodeo, The Sheepdogs, Billy Talent and Simple Plan, among others.
