Following news that Apple Music had secured an exclusive deal to stream Taylor Swift's 1989 Tour documentary, Kobalt Label Services has released the first Apple TV official artist app, with British act Placebo getting the honors. The band calls the app "revolutionary," adding that it will "allow fans to experience their favourite music videos alongside the live videos and exclusive content from the Placebo archives in their very own home."

Placebo, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of its debut album next year, signed with Kobalt in January. In addition to hosting videos and other bonus content from the band's archives, the app will eventually be a platform to premiere and monetize new music.

"This new technology will present Placebo's catalogue in an entirely new way, giving the fans something unique in a space controlled by the artist," said Paul Hitchman, president of Kobalt Label Services. "When the release of the new Apple TV was made, and the fact that it would for the first time have an app store, we saw this as an opportunity to be first in this new space."
