New Signings: Danger Mouse's 30th Century Signs Autolux, Downtown Inks Sturgill Simpson, Coda Nabs Rita Ora

Here’s a look at the latest artist signings across the music industry, including record labels, artist management firms, booking agencies and more.


-- Producer Danger Mouse (real name: Brian Burton) announces 30th Century Records, his new label imprint with Columbia Records. 30th Century’s first signing is rock band Autolux, which is currently working on a new album. Beginning in the fall, Danger Mouse will oversee the imprint and its artist signings.

-- Casablanca/Republic Records signs Los Angeles-based dark pop duo Phantoms. The group, comprised of Vinnie Pergola and Kyle Kaplan, will release its debut EP for the label, Broken Halo, on Sept. 25.

-- Singer-songwriter JoJo joins the artist roster at Atlantic Records. The artist, whose voice has been heard on songs by Timbaland and Pharrell, is working on her as-yet untitled third album. A release date has not been announced.

-- Yep Roc Records welcomes rock band Dressy Bessy to its roster. The Denver-based outfit will release its first album in seven years early next year.

-- Electronic music act Matthew Koma signs with RCA Records. He released his first single for the label, “So F---in’ Romantic” in early August. Koma has worked with such EDM artists as Zedd, Hardwell and Tiesto. RCA has also inked pop singer-songwriter Frankie, who released her debut EP, Dreamstate, on Aug. 28. She’s working on her full-length debut, which is scheduled for release in 2016.

-- Search and Destroy Records, which has a joint venture with Universal Music’s Spinefarm Records, nabs U.K. rock band Black Foxxes. The group played the Reading and Leeds Festivals in late August, and will be touring The Dear Hunter and Turbowolf throughout autumn.

-- Ed Sheeran announces British singer/songwriter Jamie Lawson as the first signing of his new label Gingerbread Man Records. Lawson’s self-titled debut album will be released Oct. 9 on Gingerbread Man Records/Elektra. He will join Sheeran on select tour dates beginning Sept. 3.

-- Concord Music Group welcomes multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Kate Davis to its artist roster. She’s currently on her debut album, which will be released in spring 2016. Davis has shared the stage with such artists as Alison Krauss, Wynton Marsalis and Josh Groban.


-- Primary Wave Entertainment signs singer/songwriter/producer Kevin Rudolf, who’s best known for his song “Let It Rock” (feat. Lil Wayne). Rudolph is currently working on a new album, which is scheduled for release in 2016.


-- UTA, which recently acquired The Agency Group, welcomes Curve, Ron and Thunderstorm, Cheatahs and Eric Etheridge to its artist roster.

-- Paradigm signs: Anne-Marie, Armstrong Leigh, Ashland Belle, Balthazar, Banners, Barns Courtney, Ben Folds, Causes, Chris Jamison, Chrome Pony, Ciaran Lavery, Dalton Domino & the Front Porch Family Band, Dead & Company, Dr. John, The Dream, EL VY, Faulkner, Fletcher, Forest Blakk, Grace Jones, Grandma Sparrow, Jake Troth, The Jane Doze, Joshua Radin, Kelechi, Kyle Craft, Leroy Sanchez, Lil B, Mainland, Matthew Logan Vasquez, Mister Rogers, Rationale, RKCB, Ryan Beaver, Saul Williams, Striking Matches, SUSTO, Wildling and William Bolton.

-- Buddy Lee Attractions welcomes multi-platinum country act Ty Herndon to its artist roster. Herndon currently has concert dates booked through November.
