Universal Music has tapped digital media veteran Franck Villet for the newly created role of chief operating officer for its Asia unit. The company said in an announcement that Villet will provide "commercial, strategic, operational and analytical insight" for markets in China and South East Asia. He will be based in Hong Kong.
Franck has held similar roles with Activision Blizzard Inc/Vivendi Games and EA Mobile. In the 1990s he worked as an analyst/auditor at GE Capital, Nielsen and L’Oreal. Most recently he has done consulting work in Singapore and Germany.
"Franck is a brilliant executive, with extensive knowledge and expertise across the greater Asian region and I am looking forward to working with Franck as he joins our regional management team," said George Ash, president of Universal Music Asia Pacific. "His immense skills in digital and media will be invaluable as we continue to evolve our company for the future entertainment industry."
