Following the exit of Tom Calderone yesterday (July 21), VH1 has announced Chris McCarthy as its new general manager, who moves over from the same role at MTV2 and Logo.

“Chris is a multi-talented executive with a proven ability to build brands and drive viewership across very different demos,” said Viacom Music and Entertainment Group president Doug Herzog in a statement.

The hire comes on the heels of a turbulent half-year for Viacom, which consolidated its music and entertainment divisions and laid off some top executives in the process, saving the company a reported $350 million annually. That reorganization followed the exit of longtime MTV leader Van Toffler, who had been with the company for 28 years.
