Nielsen and atVenu, a mobile merchandising company that provides point-of-sale solutions for touring musicians, have partnered on a reporting mechanism that will allow artists to tally sales and submit them digitally for inclusion in SoundScan, which powers the Billboard charts.

Since launch, atVenu says that over 2,500 artists have used the platform at over 65,000 concerts.

“For a long time we’ve wanted to report venue sales on the same Sales Cycle as all of the other music sales information we collect for the industry," Billy Law, vp content and business development for Nielsen Entertainment group said in a statement released last week. "This collaboration with atVenu will allow us to do that in time for the new Friday Global Release Date on July 10.”

atVenu is currently the only avenue for artists to report venue sales to Nielsen for SoundScan inclusion.
