ASCAP Appoints New General Counsel
Clara Kim joins the organization as executive vice president and general counsel, CEO Elizabeth Matthews announced.
Clara Kim has been named ASCAP's new executive vice president and general counsel, CEO Elizabeth Matthews announced today (May 12). She will be tasked with overseeing all legal and business affairs of ASCAP, managing its legislative team, internal and outside legal services as well as business affairs in all areas of the performance rights organization's global operations.
Matthews had previously served in the position of general counsel before ascending to CEO. Of the appointment, she credited Kim's "caliber, business acumen and broad experience" as well as "her knowledge of complex business transactions."

Ms. Kim arrives to ASCAP from National Geographic Channels US and International, where she held the title of evp, business and legal affairs. Prior to that, she spent time at Multi-Verse Media, Discovery Communications, Viacom’s Spike TV, Nickelodeon, MTV Networks International and Showtime Networks.
She will relocate from Washington, D.C. to New York City for her new position, which has an official start date of June 1.
