HBO's standalone streaming service is coming in April exclusively with Apple.

HBO CEO Richard Plepler took the stage at Apple's March 9 event to announced that HBO Now will be available April 12 for $14.99 a month just in time for the premiere of Game of Thrones.

"When you subscribe to HBO Now, you will have access to all our acclaimed original programming -- past, present and future -- as well as our unmatched lineup of Hollywood blockbusters," he told the packed room at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco, Calif.

HBO Now will be available on Apple iPhones and iPads and will also have a channel on Apple TV.
