Hyundai's Grammy Amplifier Initiative Launches With Mark Ronson, Band Perry
Hyundai and The Recording Academy have teamed up again for the third annual Grammy Amplifier, an online-driven initiative to unite aspiring musicians with some of the biggest names in music. Three-time Grammy winner Mark Ronson has signed on as Amplifier Ambassador alongside program curators The Band Perry, Ziggy Marley and Allen Stone.
A group of 25 finalists will be brought together for a mentorship experience following a just-launched online competition that will be determined by track plays and social media activity. The curators will then whittle the 25 down to a shortlist, at which point Ronson then selects the final three winners. The "Uptown Funk!" hitmaker then gets to assign each one of the following:
- A studio recording session with a Grammy Award winning producer.
- Production of a music video by a noted director.
- An opening spot on a big tour and/or at a music festival.
"We couldn't be more excited to continue our dedication not only to the Grammys but to the celebration and support of making music," said David Matathia, director of marketing & communications at Hyundai Motor America. "The Amplifier program and our partnership with the Grammys allow Hyundai to celebrate innovation and creativity through a truly unique and inspiring platform."
Grammy Amplifier is produced by GreenLight Media & Marketing, which has worked with Hyundai and the Recording Academy for over four years. "In considering artists to lead the Grammy Amplifier program this year, we wanted an A-list talent with worldwide recognizability and couldn't think of a better fit than Mark Ronson," said GreenLight president Dominic Sandifer in a statement to Billboard.
The Amplifier program marks the start of a three-year renewal between Hyundai and the Academy, which again taps Hyundai as the official vehicle partner of the Grammy Awards.
Artists can begin submitting now at GrammyAmplifier.com, where you can also find updates on last year's winners, Bonavox, Eyango and Jessica Faith, who were chosen by ambassador David Guetta and curators Robert Glasper, Ariana Grande, Hunter Hayes and Kendrick Lamar.
