Vevo Reaches 1 Billion Monthly Views in Mexico
Mexico is now the largest Vevo market outside the U.S.
Vevo's Mexico service registered over 1 billion views in November, a significant milestone that now makes the country Vevo's second largest market after the United States.
The 1 billion views translates to a 49 percent increase in views since the service was launched in Mexico in May 2014. The growth has been fueled by Vevo's mobile platform, which grew by 86 percent compared to May (470 million vs. 252 million views). Mobile accounted for 45 percent of Vevo's total November views, according to the company.
Regional Mexican act Julión Álvarez Y Su Norteño Banda led Vevo's November with 41.5 million views, followed by Enrique Iglesias with 25 million views, and another regional Mexican act, Gerardo Ortiz with 21.5 million views.
The numbers underscore the importance of local repertoire and also the importance of mobile to the music experience in Latin America. Since its Mexico launch, Vevo has actively promoted the service, including exclusive video premieres for the likes of Juan Gabriel, Camila and Moderatto. Over 100,000 high-definition, official music videos, live concert footage and original music programs are available.
Prior to Vevo's launch in Mexico, the service was available via its distribution partnership with YouTube.
