Paul Williams to Deliver Keynote Interview at Midem in Cannes

Invision for ASCAP

ASCAP President Paul Williams with Ozzy Osbourne, nominated twice this year

Award-winning songwriter and composer Paul Williams has been selected to deliver the keynote interview at next year's Midem, the international music industry festival, being held June 5-8 2015 in Cannes, France.

Williams' global hits include "We’ve Only Just Begun," "Rainy Days and Mondays," "An Old Fashioned Love Song" and "The Rainbow Connection," and the Nebraska native was recently featured on Daft Punk's Grammy-winning album Random Access Memories. He was elected president and chairman of performing rights org ASCAP in 2009.

According to Midem, Williams' keynote will focus on his vision for the future of licensing and the evolving music business.

"Since Midem brings together the whole music and digital ecosystem, it is the ideal event to discuss innovative directions for the future of licensing," Williams said. "The creative contributions of songwriters and composers remain the foundation upon which the entire ecosystem is built.  It is more important than ever that we work together to value music in a way that ensures a bright future for our entire industry."

The other previously announced keynote speaker is Danae Ringelmann, co-founder of crowd funding platform Indiegogo.

Earlier this year, Midem announced it is moving the event from the winter months to spring to take advantage of better weather and so that attendees can combine the trip with their vacations.
