IFPI Appoints Lauri Rechardt Head of Licensing and Legal Policy
Following the departure earlier this month of legal policy chief David Carson, the IFPI has announced Lauri Rechardt will take on an expanded role with the global trade body. Based at IFPI's London headquarters, Rechardt's new title is director of licensing and legal policy. He'll will work on matters of legal protections and rights in global music markets.
"I am delighted that Lauri's portfolio at IFPI is to be expanded to add legal policy to his existing responsibilities," said IFPI chief Frances Moore. "Working alongside IFPI's General Counsel Jo Oliver, he will be part of a top quality, closely-coordinated legal team working with our national groups and companies around the world."
Rechardt previously held the position of deputy general counsel and director of licensing and litigation at IFPI in London, before leaving for Finland to work at Helsinki law firm Procopé & Hornborg.
Carson recently left the IFPI to return to a role in the U.S. government, where he served as general counsel of the U.S. Copyright Office from 1997 until 2012.
IFPI represents more than 1,300 member labels in over 66 markets and works with affiliated national groups in 56 countries.
