Backstage Pass: Midyear Touring Report - 'Swifties' Fete Taylor in London

Taylor Swift's five sellouts in February contributed to the No. 1 ranking of London's O2 Arena on the midyear Billboard Boxscore chart for venues of 15,001 capacity and greater. Her fans, the "Swifties," packed the 23,000-seat arena and, as they do Stateside, brought an overwhelming number of posters in tribute to the superstar singer-songwriter.

"Her mum even picks out the best ones and invites the fan backstage to meet her," says O2 Arena GM Rebecca Kane. Meanwhile, Beyoncé scored six sellouts at the O2 in late February and early March, produced by SJM Concerts, grossing $11.3 million. Fans really lost it, says Kane, when Jay Z stepped onto the stage each night to perform "Drunk in Love" with his superstar wife. "The screams of excitement were legendary," says Kane. Dates by Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Drake also led the O2's top bookings for the midyear chart period.
