Backbeat: Justice Crew, Denis Handlin Celebrate Record-Busting Chart Run

Justice Crew

Australian hip hop/pop outfit Justice Crew recently made chart history with "Que Sera." The song spent nine weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA singles chart -- the longest-streak at the summit for a homegrown act since the ARIA charts were launched in 1983.

The group overtook the record of eight weeks previously held jointly by Austen Tayshus’ ”Australiana” (August 1983), Savage Garden’s “Truly, Madly, Deeply” (April 1997) and Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” (August 2011).

Justice Crew’s Australian Record-Breaking Chart Reign Ends

“We are absolutely delighted with this extraordinary achievement for Justice Crew," comments Denis Handlin, chairman & CEO Australia & New Zealand and president, Asia, Sony Music Entertainment. "Together with all the Sony Music family, I am extremely proud of the Crew who have worked so tirelessly over the years to entertain the Australian public with their hit songs and performances. This is such a special moment in Australian artists music history.”

Denis Handlin and Pat Handlin (director, A&R) presented the band members with plaques to commemorate their multi-platinum history-making hit.
