Ex-Google Exec Alexis Giles Named SoundCloud Director of Business Development

Alexis Giles, director of business development at Soundcloud.

Alexis Giles is the new director of business development at SoundCloud.

Based in San Francisco, Giles will look to develop partnerships for the company with platform and distribution partners.

Her responsibilities include identifying, prioritizing and executing partnership opportunities; leading the way to deal development with tech distribution partners, and working closely with product, engineering and growth teams to deliver partnership functionality and improve existing integrations.

Prior to SoundCloud, Giles was VP of business development at MOX and co-founded DJZ with Seth Goldstein. Before that, she worked at Google following its 2006 acquisition of YouTube, where she headed up the European commercial legal team on behalf of YouTube for four years, focusing on closing major broadcast and music deals and developing the product for international market.

In 2010, Giles moved from London to San Francisco to work for Google's new business development team, establishing strategic relationships and incubating new products and services, which included outreach and partnerships with the entrepreneurial and start-up community.

Giles holds various postgraduate qualifications in computer, Internet and copyright law, with a bachelor of laws degree from Newcastle University. She has worked, lived and traveled in various countries across the world: in a mangrove swamp in Nigeria, in a ski resort in France, near a bullring in Spain, Luxembourg, London and now San Francisco. She likes to DJ, surf and snowboard, and “continues to seek out people, places and things that inspire her.”
