Numbers: Kenny Chesney Lassos His 77th Hot Country Song Hit

Kenny Chesney lassos his 77th Hot Country Songs hit, as "American Kids" bounds in at No. 17 - the chart's third-highest debut this year. The lead single from his upcoming album is a plucky sing-along sprinkled with pop-culture references, from MTV to RCA.

With less than three full days of sales, the song sold 40,000 downloads in the week ending June 22, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It hit digital retail June 20, following its radio debut that day. On Country Digital Songs, the tune bows at No. 7.

"American Kids" bows at No. 27 on Country Airplay with 12.9 million in audience, according to Nielsen BDS. It's Chesney's 10th top 30 debut - more than any artist since the chart's 1990 launch. Garth brooks ranks second, with seven.

The song lit up Chesney's social networks, as weekly views of his official YouTube channel (where a "Kids" teaser premiered June 2) grew 48 percent, according to Next Big Sound. He also earned a 178 percent jump in Twitter mentions.
