Ackerman joined TuneCore in 2010 as COO and has run the company as president since 2012, when then-CEO/President Jeff Price and fellow co-founder Peter Wells departed.

Under Ackerman, TuneCore has grown substantially. In Q1 2014, the company paid out $34.1 million to artists in revenue generated from nearly 1.3 billion downloads and streams, a 75 percent increase over the same period in 2013. And earlier this month, the company signed a deal with top Asian music subscription service KKBOX.

“As we look ahead, Scott is a natural choice to lead the company as TuneCore strives to give musicians ever greater support and opportunities,” said TuneCore Board Chairman Art Shaw in a statement. “Not only have we developed more significant ways to help artists be discovered and earn meaningful revenue from their gift, but under Scott’s leadership we are growing quickly, allowing us to invest more than ever to help artists.”
