MTV will move its 2014 Video Music Awards to the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Aug. 24, making it the first awards show to take place at the recently refurbished venue.

MTV announce the move to the Forum via social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr. The last two years it has played Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Staples Center in Los Angeles; this year's edition will be the 31st.

Jesse Ignjatovic/Den of Thieves is the executive producer for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards with Wendy Plaut working as celebrity talent executive. Hamish Hamilton will direct the show.

The Forum, built in the 1960s as a home for the Los Angeles Lakers, reopened in January as the largest indoor performance venue in the country with a focus on music and entertainment.
