SuperGlued Concert Platform to Shut Down Monday

Complex Media is shutting down its concert discovery service and social platform SuperGlued, launched in 2011, this coming Monday. The company announced the news in an email to users.

"We decided to focus our efforts on building out our other music sites -- Complex Music, Pigeons and Planes and Do Androids Dance," the announcement read. Users have until Monday to download any content they had uploaded to the service.

The service offered similar functionality to the more popular -- and more mainstream-oriented -- Bandsintown. According to app ranking site Xyo, the app had been downloaded 51,000 times globally, compared to Bandsintown's 1.6 million.

While live performance is now often cited as the main driver of artists' incomes in the digital age, the apps and web-based services that could ease fans' discovery and purchasing activities remain somewhat fragmented and confusing. A search of Apple's App Store reveals several apps of similar function and profile -- StubHub, Songkick, Timbre, SeatGeek, WillCall and Bandsintown.
