CinemaNow Launches Film-Download Initiative

Online video-on-demand (VOD) service CinemaNow has launched a permanent download feature. The company is charging $14.99 for "download to own" movies such as "Tupac Shakur: Thug Angel."

Online video-on-demand (VOD) service CinemaNow has launched a permanent download feature.

CinemaNow is charging $14.99 for "download to own" movies. Regular downloads--which can be viewed for up to 48 hours--cost $1.99-$4.95 each.

A total of 23 Image Entertainment titles are available to own, including "Endless Summer," "Tupac Shakur: Thug Angel" and music-video programs from the Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Godsmack, Ziggy Marley and Ringo Starr.

The permanent downloads are in Microsoft's Windows Media 9 format, and can be viewed on only one device.
