MTV France VP/GM Roy Lindemann has unexpectedly resigned to "devote himself to other professional projects," according to company sources.

Lindemann was instrumental in MTV's growth in France, Belgium and Switzerland by securing its place on cable, satellite and broadband Internet networks. He also drove the network's French-language programming. Last May, he also became president of video-games channel Game One, in which MTV France owns a 50% stake.

Lindemann has been replaced by Willem Schelling. Formerly GM of MTV Poland, Schelling has been with MTV Networks Europe since 2000.
