V2 Records Pacts With India's Times Music

V2 Records has signed a two-year licensing deal with Mumbai, India-based Times Music, owned by Bennett & Coleman Ltd., one of India's leading media groups.

V2 Records has signed a two-year licensing deal with Mumbai, India-based Times Music, owned by Bennett & Coleman Ltd., one of India's leading media groups.

The deal covers the territories of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. The first batch of releases is expected to hit stores in early April.

V2's last Indian licensee was Mumbai-based indie GAS Music, which went out of business just one year after signing the deal with V2 in 2000.

Times Music is the Indian licensee for such labels as Ministry of Sound, Tommy Boy Records, New Earth, Oreade Music, Silva Screen, TIM Music, MRA International and Cool Music.

V2's roster includes Welsh rockers Stereophonics, Filipino pop singer Billy Crawford, dance band Underworld and pop act Liberty X.
