Babasonicos Win Big At Argentinian Awards

Alt-rockers take six Gardel Awards.

Alt-rock band Babasonicos took home the lion's share of trophies at Argentina's 2004 Gardel Awards, which took place Wednesday (March 31) in Buenos Aires.

The awards, now in their sixth year, are organized by local labels body CAPIF. More than 600 journalists, musicians and industry members vote for the winners.

Pelo Music act Babasonicos won six awards, including best album ("Infame") and single ("Irresponsable"). The band also took home the Golden Gardel Award, the highest honor of the evening. The only other multiple-award winner was Carlos "La Mona" Jimenez, who won for best career and best cuarteto.
