A group of former network and studio executives has formed First Family Entertainment. The home video label will be exclusively distributed by MGM Home Entertainment.

First Family -- created by former UPN president/CEO Dean Valentine, former MGM Home Entertainment president Richard Cohen and former Artisan Entertainment executive VP/chief strategic officer Nicolas Van Dyk -- will develop and produce niche-oriented, direct-to-video family products.

Four to five titles are expected from First Family each year, targeted to the African-American and Hispanic markets. Most projects are expected to be live-action content with budgets of $2 million-$3 million.

MGM will hold domestic and international distribution rights to First Family titles. The multi-year agreement also includes a first-look deal with MGM on any television or film features that First Family develops.
