Vanguard Signs Carter

Self-produced album due early next year.

Vanguard Records has signed Deana Carter to its artist roster.

Her self-produced debut for the label is due early next year. Carter's 1995 multiplatinum debut album for Capitol Records Nashville, "Did I Shave My Legs for This?" yielded three No. 1 singles. Carter's follow-up for the label, "Everything's Gonna Be Alright," went gold.

More recently, she recorded Arista Nashville's "I'm Just a Girl," which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart in April 2003.
