MusicNow has inked a deal with UltraStar Entertainment to offer artist-branded digital-music stores and subscription services to its roster of artists' official Web sites, which include sites for Sting, the Rolling Stones and David Bowie.

No UltraStar artists have signed on to use the service yet. MusicNow says that it hopes to launch with two UltraStar artist sites this summer.

The alliance is part of a broader push by MusicNow to power music-commerce solutions for individual artists called "MusicNow Digital Music Clubs."

MusicNow will power download stores and memberships to a subscription service that will be promoted from each UltraStar act's Web site. The sites will feature licensed digital music as well as exclusive material. The artists and their management -- in connection with MusicNow and UltraStar -- will determine content for a given artist's store.

UltraStar hopes the MusicNow store will complement its online ticketing service, Virtual Ticket, which powers fan-club subscription offerings, merchandise sales and ticketing programs.
