Tickets will go on sale Thursday (May 20) for Coventry, Phish's two-day music fest, to be held Aug. 14-15 at Newport State Airport in the band's home state of Vermont. This will be the band's first-ever home-state festival, and first public outdoor Vermont appearance since 1995. As with all prior Phish festivals, Coventry will see the band performing three live sets each day, with on-site camping as well as numerous ancillary art and entertainment attractions.

Last year's It festival at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine, marked a return to the group's festival form, grossing about $8.25 million and attracting some 60,000 Phish fans.

Coventry will wrap a relatively light summer touring agenda for Phish. The route begins with two dates at KeySpan Park in Brooklyn, N.Y., June 17-18; followed by doubles at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. (19-20); Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Ind. (23-24); Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wis. (25-26); and Tweeter Center in Mansfield, Mass. (Aug. 10-11); a stop at the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront in Camden, N.J. (12), and then the Coventry fest.

Last summer Phish's shed run grossed about $14 million over 19 dates, with an average of $736,842 per show. The It fest grossed double the amount rung up by previous Phish fests, including Clifford Ball in 1996 ($3.3 million), the Great Went in 1997 ($4.2 million) and Lemonwheel in 1998 ($4 million).

"Undermind," the band's new studio album on Elektra/Atlantic records, lands in stores on June 15. Phish is managed by John Paluska at Dioneysian Productions, and booked by Chip Hooper at Monterey Peninsula Artists.
