Nielsen BDS To Track Launch Streams

Yahoo! service is first Web property monitored.

Launch, the music destination on Yahoo!, has announced that Nielsen BDS will begin tracking its audio and video streams in July. Launch is the first Internet media property to be monitored by the service.

Nielsen BDS technology will identify songs played on the Launch music video network and the Launchcast Internet radio service and will make the data available to BDS subscribers in its national airplay reports.

"Yahoo! and other streaming media resources have been instrumental in showcasing new music and reaching millions of consumers," says Rob Sisco, president of Nielsen Music/COO of Nielsen Entertainment East Coast operations. "Nielsen BDS recognizes the increasing impact of this audience, and by integrating this data, along with existing terrestrial and satellite radio monitoring, we look forward to providing the music industry with the most accurate and complete overview of song exposure."
