GWAR Inks With DRT

Album due in the fall.

Heavy metal group GWAR has signed with New York-based DRT Entertainment. The band will release its first album of new material in three years this October.

GWAR -- which stands for God What an Awful Racket -- will reunite with producer Glen Robinson, who helmed the band's third album "America Must Be Destroyed" (Priority). The new set will be recorded at Wreckroom Studios in Richmond, Va., and mixed at the Chop Shop in New York.

DRT will also reissue the band's 1988 debut, "Hell-O" (Shimmy Disc), and its 1990 follow-up "Scumdogs of the Universe" (Metal Blade) as a two-disc package on Aug. 3.

An international promotional tour is being planned around the release of the as-yet-untitled new set.
