Dutch sales charts compiler Mega Charts has signed a long-term contract with German research company GfK for the compilation and exploitation of the various sales charts in the Netherlands.

Mega Charts is an industry-owned foundation set up by label's body NVPI and retailer's group NVGD. With immediate effect, GfK Benelux Marketing Services takes over all activities and staff of the Mega Charts organization.

The Mega Charts foundation will continue to commission the charts. A steering committee- consisting mainly of record industry executives and retailers, together with GfK--will make decisions regarding the charts.

"The Dutch entertainment industry already works closely with GfK on various market research projects,” says Theo Roos, chairman of NVPI and CEO of Universal Music Netherlands. “The Dutch charts need reliable continuity and in the bigger GfK organization there also will be more possibilities to organize new charts on physical or download product."
