XM Radio Tops 2.1 Million Subscribers

XM Satellite Radio says it added 418,000 new subscribers in the second quarter of 2004, bringing its market-leading total to more than 2.1 million.

XM Satellite Radio says it added 418,000 new subscribers in the second quarter of 2004, bringing its market-leading total to more than 2.1 million.

The quarterly net subscriber gain is double what the company reported in the second quarter of 2003, when it gained 209,000 new subscribers.

XM said it experienced growth during the quarter both at retail and through its deals with car companies.

Rival Sirius Satellite Radio had 400,000 subscribers as of May 11, according to the most recent numbers released by the company.
